Can I add a logo image instead of text?
Not currently — this tool adds text watermarks only.
What format is the watermarked image saved as?
PNG stays PNG; every other format (JPEG, WebP, GIF, and others) is saved as JPEG. This matches how this site's other image tools handle format, since PNG's lossless compression is worth preserving specifically, while other formats convert cleanly to JPEG.
Can I watermark multiple images at once?
No — this tool processes one image at a time. For watermarking a batch, repeat the process for each file.
How long can the watermark text be?
Up to 60 characters on a single line. Longer lines are not wrapped, so very wide text can run past the edge of a small image.
Why is my watermark so small on a big photo?
The size is in pixels and does not scale with the picture. A 32-pixel watermark on a 3000-pixel-wide photo covers roughly 1% of its width, so use a larger size, up to 80.
Choosing watermark settings
Opacity below 100% lets the underlying image show through the text — around 50–70% is usually enough to mark ownership without obscuring the photo, while text near 100% opacity works better if you specifically want the watermark to stand out or discourage cropping it out. For the text color, pick something with enough contrast against the area it lands on — white text on a bright sky, for instance, can be nearly invisible even at full opacity, so preview the result before downloading.
Bottom-right and bottom-center positions are the most common choice for photography and social media, since they mark the image without covering the main subject, which is usually centered or in the upper two-thirds of a photo.
Exact placement and size
The text is drawn in bold sans-serif at the size you pick, from 12 to 80 pixels with a default of 32, with a fixed 20-pixel margin. Bottom right and bottom center put the text's baseline 20 pixels above the lower edge, Top left starts 20 pixels in from the left with its baseline 20 pixels plus the font size below the top, and Center centers the text horizontally with its baseline at half the image height.
A worked example
On a 3000 × 2000 photo, the defaults (text © Your Name, bottom right, 32 px, 70% opacity, white) put the baseline at 1980 px with the right end of the text 20 px from the right edge. At 32 px the text is only about 1% of the image's 3000-pixel width, so on large photos raise the size. The picture keeps its 3000 × 2000 dimensions and downloads as watermarked.jpg, or watermarked.png for a PNG.
Limits of the text
The text is one line of up to 60 characters in a fixed font and a single color, with opacity from 10% to 100%. It is not wrapped or rotated, and text wider than the image is cut off at the edge rather than shrunk. An empty text box shows a message asking for some text.
