How it works
The image is decoded directly in your browser using an open-source QR-reading library — nothing is uploaded to a server. QR codes have built-in error correction, so this works reliably even on photos taken at a slight angle or with modest image quality.
Getting the best results
- Make sure the whole QR code is visible in the image, without cropping
- Good, even lighting works better than harsh shadows or glare
- Screenshots of a QR code generally decode more reliably than photos
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No — the QR code is decoded directly in your browser. The image never leaves your device.
Why didn't it find a QR code in my image?
Make sure the whole code is visible and not cropped, blurry, or heavily glared. A straight-on screenshot usually decodes more reliably than an angled photo.
Does this work with a webcam?
Not currently — this tool works from an uploaded image file, not a live camera feed.
