Blur Image

How it works

Choose "Blur whole image" for a uniform blur, or "Blur selected area only" to drag a box over just the part you want obscured — a face, a license plate, a phone number in a screenshot — and leave the rest sharp. The preview updates live as you move the slider or the selection.

The slider sets a Gaussian-style blur from 1 to 30 pixels. For a selected area, the box can be moved and resized from its corners, and only the pixels inside it are changed. The blur is applied at the image's full resolution, so the same setting looks gentler on a large photo than on a small one.

Blurring sensitive details

A light blur can still leave text or a face recognizable, particularly on a high-resolution image. For anything private, raise the intensity, check the result at full size, and keep the box a little larger than the detail. Blurring cannot be undone in the saved file, so keep your original.

Other uses and limits

Blurring a whole image is handy for soft backgrounds, placeholders and subtle effects. Only one box can be blurred per pass, so for several areas, download the result and load it again. A PNG stays a PNG and other formats are saved as JPEG. Everything is processed in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

What you get

The result keeps the original pixel dimensions and downloads as a new file, so the image you loaded is never modified. Because the preview is scaled to fit the screen while the saved image is full size, check the downloaded file once before you share it.
