Why the output is always WAV
Your browser can decode many audio formats but can't re-encode directly back into a compressed format like MP3 without a dedicated encoder library. WAV is uncompressed and can be generated reliably without one, so that's what this tool outputs. For a real, compressed MP3 instead, use the MP3 Encoder tool, which adds that dedicated encoder.
