How the calculation works
The calculator starts from your birth date and adds whole years, then whole months, as long as the result doesn't pass today. It then counts the remaining days from that point. If the target month is shorter than your birth day (for example, a birth on the 31st and a month with 28 days), the date is moved back to the last day of that month. No part of the result can ever be negative.
Worked example
Someone born on 15 March 2000, calculated on 21 August 2026, is 26 years, 5 months, and 6 days old: 26 full years take you to 15 March 2026, then 5 more months reach 15 August 2026, and the remaining 6 days reach 21 August 2026.

A second example, with a month-end birthday
Born on 31 January 2001 and checked on 1 March 2026: 25 years reach 31 January 2026, one more month reaches 28 February 2026 (February has no 31st, so the last day is used), and the remaining 1 day reaches 1 March. The answer is 25 years, 1 month, 1 day. Born on 7 November 1988 and checked on 3 October 2026, the answer is 37 years, 10 months, 26 days.
What the result is based on
- It uses the date on your device, so a wrong system clock gives a wrong age.
- Only the calendar date counts, read as a local date. Time of birth is ignored.
- It counts completed years, the way most countries define legal age. Traditional East Asian age counting, where a baby is one at birth, will show a higher number.
- A 29 February birthday is treated as 28 February in years without a 29 February, so the new age begins on 28 February. Some countries' laws use 1 March instead, so check the rule that applies to you.

Is this age calculator accurate?
Yes. It adds whole years and months to the birth date, moving to the last day of a shorter month when needed (31 January plus one month gives 28 February), then counts the remaining days. Results are never negative, and leap years are handled.

Can I calculate someone's age on a date other than today?
This tool always calculates age as of today's date. To find age on a specific past or future date, the calculation is the same — simply use that date instead of today's when working it out manually.
Why is the age here different from the age I use in my country?
This tool counts completed years from the birth date. Some traditions, including older Korean and Chinese age counting, add a year at birth or at New Year, so the figures can differ by one or two years.
How does it treat a birthday on 29 February?
In years without a 29 February, the new age begins on 28 February. Legal systems differ on whether a leap-day birthday falls on 28 February or 1 March, so use the rule from the authority concerned for official purposes.
